Cancellation and refunds

What we refund, what we do not, and how long it takes

This policy applies to every payment made to Nikhil Seth for My IVYLeague Prep. There is one thing to buy here — the full readiness report, at ₹99, paid once — and this page is written to be read before you pay rather than after, so nothing on it should come as a surprise later. Where we do refund, the timings below are the ones we hold ourselves to.

Effective from

The short version

Cancelling an order

Nothing is charged until you complete a payment yourself, in the gateway's own window, so there is no order to cancel beforehand. You can close that window at any point up to the moment you confirm and nothing will have been taken. Sitting the assessment costs nothing, and your readiness index and band stay free and visible whether you ever pay or not — ₹99 unlocks the detail behind them.

There is no subscription here and no recurring billing of any kind. It is one payment for one report, so there is nothing to cancel afterwards to stop money going out again — it will not.

If you have already paid and want to cancel, what you are asking for is a refund, and the rest of this page is about when that is possible.

What is not refundable

Two things, stated plainly rather than tucked away, because you are entitled to know them before you pay.

A change of mind

Deciding after the fact that you would rather not have bought the report is not a ground for a refund. The price is shown in full before you pay, on the unlock screen and on our terms page, with an itemised list of what it includes, precisely so that this decision is made before the money moves.

The report, once it has been opened

The report unlocks the moment your payment is confirmed — normally within seconds, and within 5 minutes at the outside. It is a digital document delivered complete: all eight pillars scored, the working-style profile, and a written critique of every essay you submitted. You can read the whole of it in one sitting and download the PDF to keep. Once it has been opened, refunding it would mean handing back the money for something your family still has and can still use. So we do not, and that holds however soon after opening it you ask.

If you paid and the report never opened at all, that is a different situation entirely and it is covered below.

We do not refund because a report says something a family did not want to hear either. A low readiness index is not a defective product — it is the answer to the question you asked, and the improvement actions attached to it are the part worth reading twice. If you think a score is wrong on the facts, that is a re-score and not a refund: tell us what we got wrong and we will look at it.

What we do refund

These are the cases where we were never properly owed the money. In each of them the refund is for the full amount taken, it goes back to the card, UPI handle or account it came from, and the timings in how long it takes apply from the day we approve it.

  1. You were charged twice for the same report

A duplicate or double charge is refunded in full, every time, without argument and without reference to anything else on this page. It makes no difference whether the report has been opened, and it makes no difference how long ago it happened — if we took ₹99 twice for one report, the second charge comes back. You only ever need to pay once: the unlock screen sends anybody who has already paid straight to their report rather than to a payment button.

  2. The payment went through and the report stayed locked

Your report should open within 5 minutes of a confirmed payment. Nothing unlocks on the strength of your browser saying the payment worked — we wait for the gateway to tell our server directly — and on rare occasions that message is delayed or lost, which leaves money taken and a report still shut. If 24 hours have passed since the money left your account and there is still nothing to open, we treat that as our failure rather than yours. Tell us and we will either unlock it the same day or refund you in full. Your choice, not ours.

  3. The payment was not authorised by you

A payment made in error, or made on your card or account by somebody else in the family without your permission, is refunded in full provided you tell us as soon as you notice and before the report has been opened. Write to us straight away — the sooner we hear, the simpler it is for everyone.

A refunded payment is reversed on our side as well as yours. The full report closes at the same moment the money goes back, and the free index, band and one-page summary remain as they were before you paid. That is the fair side of a refund and we would rather say so here than have it surprise you.

A failed payment is not a refund. If your bank declines the payment, or the gateway never captures it, no money is owed to you because none was taken — but banks sometimes show a declined amount as debited for a day or two before releasing it. If that has happened and it has not cleared, write to us with the date and the amount and we will trace it against the gateway's record rather than telling you to ring your bank.

How to ask for a refund

Write to our Grievance Officer, Nikhil Seth, at talktous@ivybootcamps.com. If it is easier to talk than to type, ring +91 70650 11173 during Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 18:00 IST — but please follow the call with an email, so that both of us have the same written record of what was asked and when.

Put these four things in it, and we can usually deal with it without writing back:

We acknowledge every request within 48 hours. You will then get a decision in writing, with the reason for it — including when the answer is no, because a refusal without a reason is not an answer. If we need something from you to decide, we will ask for exactly that one thing rather than sending you round again.

How long a refund takes

There are two clocks and they run one after the other. We quote both, because a family told only “5 to 7 days” who sees nothing once those days have passed is right to be worried, and they should not have to be.

  1. Acknowledgement

Within 48 hours of your email reaching us.

  2. Our side

5 to 7 working days from the day we approve the refund. That is when the money leaves us and the instruction reaches the payment gateway.

  3. Your bank's side

Up to a further 10 days for the credit to appear on your statement. This part is your bank's timetable, not ours, and it varies with the method you paid by — UPI is usually quick, a credit card can take the whole of it.

Every refund goes back to the payment method it came from. We cannot send it to a different card, a different UPI handle or somebody else's bank account, and we will not be talked into it — that rule is what protects a family whose card was used by someone else. Refunds are made in Indian rupees for the amount taken. We do not charge a processing fee on a refund and we do not deduct one, so ₹99 refunded is ₹99 returned.

If 7 working days plus 10 days have gone by and you still cannot see the money, write to us with your bank statement for that period. We will give you the gateway's own refund reference, which is what your bank needs in order to trace it.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome

Say so, to the same Grievance Officer, and say why. Every complaint is acknowledged within 48 hours and resolved within 30 days of being raised. Those are commitments, not targets.

If we have still not put it right after that, you are free to take it further, and our contact page sets out exactly where. Please do not start with a chargeback through your bank: it freezes the payment for weeks and stops us from simply refunding you, which is almost always faster.

Before you pay, not after

Ask us anything on this page

If a single line here is unclear, ask before you buy rather than after. We would far rather spend ten minutes on the phone than have a family feel they were not told.
